Aliyar-Parambikulam water: Government to move Apex Court

The State Government has decided to approach the Supreme Court regarding the state’s share of water from the Aliyar-Parambikulam project.

The Cabinet which met here on Wednesday also decided to appoint Justice C N Ramachandran Nair as Dam Safety Authority Chairman.

The cabinet also decided to allot Rs 150 crore to the PWD to carry out road repair works and Rs 52.85 crore has been allotted for Water Authority. The moratorium on loans taken by fishermen has been extended for a year from January 1, 2013. 

In the Health Department, the services of doctors, appointed for carrying out works on prevention of communicable diseases, have been extended for three more months and for this Rs 4.5 lakh has been allotted. In the education package 14 aided special school teachers have been included.

The Cabinet also sanctioned a police outpost at Wayanad Pass with 11 postings. Also, Mannarkkad police station in Palakkad district will be bifurcated to create Kalladokodu police station and 42 posts have been approved.

The Cabinet sanctioned Rs 12 lakh for road repair works of Vandiperiyar-Sabarimala-Sathram Road.

A new road between Kottarathilkadavu and Pallurpadi in Kottayam district has been approved.
