According to police, Mozgovoygicheslav (65), hailing from St Petersburg, Russia, was one among the 12-member team from St Petersburg, who were staying at a home stay near Kovalam from January 21.

A lifeguard, who saw the person drown, informed the police about the death around 7.30 a.m.

“Mozgovoygicheslav’s daughter will arrive here on Thursday and the body will be buried at Syrian Orthodox Church at Thiruvithamcode, near Thakkala, where Russians were buried earlier also,” said Russia’s honorary consul Ratheesh C Nair.  The body is kept in the mortuary of Medical College Hospital after autopsy.

According to details available, the burial will take place after obtaining the autopsy report on Thursday.
