THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor has given nod to the Kerala University to implement school system in academic activities. The Chancellor has allowed the university to bring in the 42 teaching

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Governor has given nod to the Kerala University to implement school system in academic activities. The Chancellor has allowed the university to bring in the 42 teaching departments under 11 schools. The School of Business Management and Legal Studies and School of Distance Education will be started in the first phase.

The schools and departments under them will be as follows:

School of Life Sciences: Botany, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Zoology, Aquatic Biology and Fisheries.

School of Physical and Mathematical Science: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and Demography.

School of Earth System Sciences: Geology, Environmental Sciences.

School of English and Foreign Languages: English, German, Russian and Arabic.

School of Indian Languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Sanskrit, Linguistics, Oriental Research Institute and Manuscript Library.

School of Fine Arts: Music School of Communication and Library Sciences: Communication and Journalism, Library and Information Sciences.

School of Technology: Computer Sciences, Futures Studies and Opto Electronics

School of Social Sciences: Sociology, Economics, History, Political Science, Islamic Studies, Archaeology, Philosophy, Psychology, Education

School of Business Management and Legal Studies: Commerce, Institute of Management in Kerala, Law

School of Distance Education: Institute of Distance Education
