Science Training for School Students at Mar Ivan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Science Facilitation Centre (SFC) at Mar Ivanios College will train young science students for inspiring, promoting and motivating them to enable creativity in science.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Science Facilitation Centre (SFC) at Mar Ivanios College will train young science students for inspiring, promoting and motivating them to enable creativity in science.

 SFC proposes to include 40 talented students selected from a few schools for this programme. The selected students of seventh and eighth standards (present academic year) will be provided one-day interactive laboratory session each month on all second Saturdays for cultivating creativity in science. Highly competent resource persons lead this programme under the Department of Physics.

Two brilliant students from each school will be selected from seventh and eighth standards. The list of students should be forwarded by the principal/ headmaster/ headmistress in the school letter head to Dr K S Mathew, Associate Professor and Coordinator, Science Facilitation Centre, Department of Physics, Mar Ivanios College, Thiruvananthapuram.  Shashi Tharoor MP will inaugurate this year’s training programme at Mar Ivanios College, on March 5, at 10.30 am. Auxiliary bishop of major archdiocese Rev Dr Samuel Mar Irenios will deliver the benedictory address.

A Shajahan, Director of Public Instruction, will deliver the keynote address.

 Certificates to those students who completed the programme during the previous year will be distributed on the occasion.

There will be an interaction with the students of Mar Ivanios College with Shashi Tharoor after the function. The selected students can be accompanied by one science teacher from the school along with their parents at the inaugural function.
