THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Deputy Mayor G Happykumar has said that City Corporation would curb the functioning of those institutions which do not own an independent mechanism to treat garbage. He was inaugurating the second day’s conference of Federation of Residents’ Associations Thiruvananthapuram (FRAT) held here on Sunday.

Inaugurating the sports fest organised as part of the conference, Sports Council president Padmini Selvan opined that frequent involvement of the public in sports can bring down lifestyle diseases. She also felt that a change should be brought about in the mindset of the people that they should indulge in sports and related activities prior to being victimised by diabetes and blood pressure.

Vazhuthacaud councillor Suresh Kumar, John Selvan and P Satheesh Kumar participated in the function. The fest will conclude on February 19.
