THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Canara Bank Institute of  Information Technology (CBIIT) accorded a warm reception to Dr Siby Mathews, Chief Information Commissioner, Kerala, as he arrived to attend the ‘Meet-a-celebrity’ function on Thursday.

Interacting with the trainees, Siby Mathews stressed that a lot of precautions have to be taken while dealing with various social problems relevant to the youth in today’s society.

He commended Canara Bank on its CSR activities which, he felt, were in tune with the development phase of the nation and the world. CBIIT Director Mary James welcomed the gathering. C Govindan Nair, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank, Thiruvananthapuram Circle, presided over the meet.

The meeting was well-attended by trainees and ex-trainees. The institute has so far trained over 2,300 youngsters in software and hardware and boasts of a placement rate of over 95 per cent.
