KOLLAM: A six-year-old child and a youth drowned in the Kunduman cherukayal near Chathannoor here on Sunday. Manu (22) and his relative Ananthu (6), son of Subhash of Kudumon, were the deceased. The two were neighbours.

  The incident occurred at 3 a m when the two along with another neighbour Sudheesh were returning from a marriage house in the neighbourhood. It is suspected that Manu was carrying the child and slipped into the lake in the darkness.

 Sudeesh who was walking some distance ahead of the two realised that the two were missing only when he reached the house. He alerted the relatives and following a search the bodies were found by around 7.30

a m.

 Manu is a construction worker and Ananthu is a Class I student of Adhichanalloor Govt UP School.
