THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To each month of the new year, the Navarasam Sangeetha Sabha, a cultural organisation in the city, will dedicate a concert of kritis composed in a single raga. The ‘Sangeetha Archana’ is being organised to mark the 26th year of the Sabha’s activities aimed at promoting Carnatic music.

Said Secretary Jayaraj Valiyasala, “Each concert will be based on one melakarta raga. We have printed the months and the ragas on a brochure so that people can look forward to listening to some of their favourite kritis,” he said.

He added that each concert will be dedicated to the memory of a music maestro as well as a Malayalam actor. The first of the series will be held at the Chembai Smaraka Hall, Sreevaraham, on January 21. Aryanadu H Raju will render kritis in the 57 melakarta raga of ‘Simhendra Madhyamam’.

In the months to follow, ragas Mecha Kalyani, Mayamalavagowla, Roopavathi, Dheera Sankarabharanam, Gharahara priya, Shanmugha priya, Keeravani, Kamavradhini (Pantuvarali), Vachaspati, Subha Pantuvarali and Harikamboji.
