THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad will launch its state-wide campaign raising the slogan “We need Another Kerala” on January 14 at Kanghangad and Thiruvananthapuram.
Parishad general secretary T P Jayasankar and organising committee convener Sasidharan Pillai told a news conference that Kannur University Vice-Chancellor P K Michael Tharakan would launch the padayatra campiagn at Kannur.
Poet Sugathakumari will inaugurate the padayatra from Thiruvananthapuram on January 15 at 5 pm at PSU HSS ground, Venganoor. Dr R V G Menon, Dr K N Harilal, Ex-MP V Viswambharan and District Panchayat vice-president Rufus Daniel will attend the function at Thiruvananthapuram.
P Appukuttan, P Karunakaran MP, Dr K N Ganesh, K Kunhiraman MLA (Uduma) and K Kunhiraman MLA (Thrikkarippoor), E Chandrasekharan MLA and others will attend the inaugural function at Kannur.
Parishad’s former general secretary T Gangadharan will be the captain of the northern leg of the jatha.
T P Kunhikannan, former president of the Parishad, will lead the southern leg of the jatha. Both the padayatras will culminate at Municipal Town hall, Aluva, on January 30.
The 15-day padayatra will be accorded receptions at 120 centres.
The cultural procession (kalajatha) accompanying the padayatra will have participation of socio-political leaders and writers.
