THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: City police in a surprise check arrested Arun alias Kochumon, 19 and his close accomplice Sudhakar, 21 while both of them were riding a stolen bike on Friday.
Police said that Arun of Karakulam, Nedumangad and Sudhakar, a native of Andhra Pradesh, who now lives at Kadakkal in Kollam are accused in many housebreaking and robbery cases.
Arun is a member of Kollam-based criminal group from his teenage itself and last year there were 12 housebreaking and several robbery cases in his name.
This was the first time he was trapped by the police. The surprise check was followed by an order from T J Jose, who assumed charge as the City Police Commisioner recently and was led by a team under V C Mohanan, Deputy Commissioner, Law and Order. Cantonment Assistant Commissioner Haridas, Peroorkkada C I Jayachandran and members of the City shadow police were also in the team. The accused were remanded.
