THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi is launching a medical insurance scheme for painters, sculptors, photographers and cartoonists in the State.
Artists who have participated in the state-level exhibitions organised by the Akademi are eligible to apply. The selected artists will be issued photo identity cards.
An amount of ` 30,000 can be claimed at once or in parts a year under the insurance scheme, implemented in association with the Oriental Insurance Company.
The identity cards can also be used to apply for membership in the Kerala Cultural Activists Welfare Fund Board. Eligible artists interested to join the scheme may submit their full details and photo at the art galleries in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thalassery and Kanhangad before February 15, said an official release here on Monday.
