THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a tragic incident a mother and child at their home in Pattom on Monday afternoon died in a case of suicide.
The deceased have been identified as Rajasree, 38 working as a clerk in the PSC office and her daughter Vishnu Maya, a standard III student at a private school in the city. According to police, Rajasree was suffering from depression after her husband Padmakumar, working at Vidyuthi Bhavan, died 40 days back of a heart attack. Medical College police said that the woman committed suicide by hanging herself and the child was found lying on the floor. Though the police team rushed the girl to the hospital, she could not be saved. The police said that a postmortem would be conducted on Tuesday, to ascertain whether the child was poisoned.
