THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Hundreds of people paid homage to Athiyannoor Block Panchayat president Valsalam, 60, and member Joy J Victor,30, who were killed in an accident on Monday after they were run over by a KSRTC bus. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Transport Minister V S Sivakumar, A T George MLA were among others who paid homage.
The duo, who were travelling on a two-wheeler met with the accident on Monday evening, when they were returning after attending the Block Panchayat meeting.
The incident took place around 5 pm at Athiyannoor, Neyyatinkara, when the bike they were riding was knocked down by a KSRTC bus.
Due to the impact of the hit, both of them fell on the road and another KSRTC bus which came from the opposite direction ran over them. Though they were rushed to the hospital, both of them were declared dead on arrival.
