THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The annual Nishagandhi festival will be held at Kanakakunnu here from January 20 to 26. A dance and music festival at Nishagandhi auditorium and a food festival at Sooryakanthi ground will be held as part of the event.
A highlight of the event would be the Kathakali mela to be held at the palace auditorium. The festival would be inaugurated by Transport and Devaswom Minister V S Sivakumar on January 20 at 6.30 p.m. Mayor K Chandrika and councillor Leelamma Isaac will attend the inaugural function. Sangamam, an audio-visual programme to be attended by around 200 artistes, and a mandolin concert by U Sreenivas and U Rajesh will be part of the event. Odissi, Manipuri, Bharatanatyam, Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, Gazal, Mohiniyattam and Kathak will be staged during the festival
days.
