THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Southern Railways has launched an online information facility for giving real time updates on its services for the benefit of Attukal Pongala pilgrims. The website http://railyatri.in/attukal-pongala gives live status of all trains arriving and departing from three stations in the capital, including Thiruvananthapuram Central, Kochuveli and Pettai.
The visitors to the website can browse in two ways; either by selecting a station or the route. If any of the three stations are selected they would get live updates of trains passing through the station.
The information available are the original arrival or departure time, current status and the expected arrival or departure time.
The Southern Railways had launched a similar online train tracking facility for Sabarimala pilgrims during the last Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival season.
The stations then covered were Kottayam, Tiruvalla and Chengannur. The service was an instant hit with thousands of pilgrims from various Indian states availing of the facility. The website is managed by Stelling Technologies.
