THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K M Mani has affirmed that a new dam will be constructed at Mullaperiyar at any cost and the State Government is committed to move ahead on this score while assuring that waters due to Tamil Nadu will not be denied under any circumstances.
He also said that the observations made by the Supreme Court in the river linking scheme was not against Kerala in any manner.
Inaugurating the state committee meeting of KC(M) here on Tuesday, Mani said that the promise for a new dam in Mullaperiyar was given to the people of the state in the Governor’s Address to the Assembly last year itself. An amount of `5 crore was also earmarked for the preliminary work.
Mani said that the faith of the people in the UDF Government would be reflected in the Piravom bypoll and the it’s candidate would win the poll with a thumping majority.
