THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Institution of Engineers, under the aegis of the Environmental Engineering Division Board of IEI, will organise an all-India seminar on ‘Sustainable waste management’ on Saturday. The seminar is jointly organised by Suchitwa Mission, Communication and Capacity Development Unit and P A Aziz College of Engineering and Technology (PAACET).
Some of the papers that will be presented at the seminar include, ‘Waste management in Kerala - issues, measures and initiatives’ by Suchitwa Mission executive director George Chackacherry, ‘Status of solid waste management in India with special reference to Kerala’ by Centre for Environment and Development executive director Babu Ambat, ‘Community health versus solid waste’ by Community Medicine Department head of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Dr K Vijaya Kumar and ‘Treatment alternatives for solid waste in Thiruvananthapuram city’ by A V Hema Nalini, faculty member at NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad.
