THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police suspect the girl, found dead in her house at Venjarammoodu on Tuesday, was murdered in a theft attempt. The body of Arya V J, 14, was found strangled in her residence. Her necklace, worth one-and-a-half sovereigns, was also missing. “We suspect it as a theft attempt. The investigation is progressing and some persons are under the scanner,” said Vattappara SI K R Biju.

 Meanwhile, the body was cremated on Wednesday after conducting post-mortem.  

 Chief Minister Oommen Chandy visited the residence of the deceased on Wednesday. He said that the South Zone IG would monitor the investigation and the culprits would be brought to book soon.

 Arya is survived by father Vijayakumar and mother Jayakumari. She was a tenth standard student of Govt Girls High School, Kanyakulangara.
