THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Flight No BN 552 to Bahrain will take off from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport at 5 am on Friday. Launched by Bahrain Air, the direct flight to Bahrain has come as a big relief to many non-resident Keralites (NRKs). Though it won approval for daily direct flights, Bahrain Air will start with four flights a week. Currently, no airline offers direct flights to Bahrain.

The flights are on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Departure time of the flight from Thiruvananthapuram is 5 am and it will reach Bahrain at 7.30 am. The flight will depart from Bahrain at 9.25 pm and reach the city at 4.15 am. Flights have been scheduled for onward connection to other GCC and Levant destinations.

Air-India had stopped direct flights to Bahrain recently, landing the passengers in a Catch-22 situation. The announcement of Bahrain Air comes as a relief to a large number of passengers depending on the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.

Bahrain Air has got approval for daily direct flights and the carrier is expected to widen the service soon. Bahrain Air has termed the introduction of the Thiruvananthapuram-Bahrain direct flights as another step in its route expansion process. Bahrain Air had announced the Thiruvananthapuram-Bahrain daily direct flights on February 15.
