THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan on Saturday said that the Government Order absolving the top officials involved in the Malabar Cements corruption case was a challenge to the rule of law. In a statement issued here, the Opposition Leader said that the Vigilance had filed a chargesheet in connection with the corruption involving hundreds of crores. The government had now issued an order absolving former Chief Secretary John Mathai, Board members Krishnakumar and Padmanabhan Nair from the list of accused.

VS said that the government had taken a stand of asking the Vigilance to frame charges and absolve people as per it’s wish in criminal cases and alleged that the move was to sabotage the corruption case.
