The film ‘Friday’ revolves around the magical date 11/11/11. Interestingly, the date fell on a Friday when the world as a whole was excited and waiting for something different to happen. The film tracks the lives of some people who arrive at Alappuzha on a particular Friday. For director Lijin Jose the film, to be shot entirely in Alappuzha, is ‘mini stories in one day’.

Fahad Fazil and Ann Augustine will play the lead roles. ‘Tournament’ fame Manu will also appear in an important role in the film. The geographical area of Alappuzha is small and the film depicts the lives of some people who arrive at Alappuzha on a particular day,” says its script writer Najeem Koya, who also penned the script for hit film ‘Apoorvaragham’.

The film portrays six individual stories of different people who are knowingly or unknowingly connected to each other.

“Though technology is advancing each day, many people in Kuttanad are depending on the boat service. They still don’t have any option other than the boat service to travel if they want to see a film or a temple festival at night. Even though thousands of people are coming there for various purposes and also for their daily works. The film focuses on these people and the boat too plays an important role in the film,” Najeem says.

The director says that there would be 48 characters featuring in this film and all of them will be known faces from Malayalm film industry. “Even though small characters, they will be remembered by the people,” he says. The film will use  multiple narrative technique.

“Nowadays people are not interested in one man shows. They always want to see different types of stories from day-to-day life. So at least for some time the films like ‘Traffic’ and ‘Chappa Kurissu’ will be on demand,” says Lijin, the debutant director who is known for his critically acclaimed short film, ‘Conditions Apply’.

Though the film is being produced by Thomas Joseph Pattathanam, as the producer. Jomon Thomas will wield the camera while Roby Abraham will be doing the music. Lyrics will be penned by Beeyar Prasad and BGM by Rex Vijayan.

The shooting will commence on March 23, another Friday.
