THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Airstrips would be set up in districts without an airport. Works on airstrips in Kollam and Kottayam will begin this year itself. The airstrips will boost tourist arrivals to the state, the Finance Minister said.
`50 cr for Kannur Airport
`50 crore has been earmarked in the budget for the works on Kannur airport. Feasibility study will be conducted for setting up airports in Idukki and Wayanad also. Rs 50 lakh has been sanctioned for the pre-project works.
The budget also proposes to speed up the land acquisition works for Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode airports.
