THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The AIYF protest march to the  Secretariat against the raising the retirement age of government employees, turned violent after the police used water cannon against the protestors.  The trouble  began after the protestors started dispersing after the march which was inaugurated by state president G Krishnaprasad. Four activists including the district secretary Kalady Jayachandran were injured in police action. Nine TV cameras were damaged during the use of water cannons.

CPI PROTEST

CPI district secretary Venjarammod Sasi slammed the police action against the AIYF activists ‘’as undemocratic and deplorable.’’ He termed the action against the media as an attack on the media and demanded government to pay for the damage caused to cameras.
