THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A study on traffic reforms is being undertaken in the city as part of implementing the Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) system here.

The study and collection of data, which will begin on Thursday, will be conducted amongst the general public and will be centred around public places such as bus stops, railway station and offices.

 The study is being carried out by Infrastructure Kerala Ltd (INKEL), NATPAC and Ultrafairwood Ltd. The PRT system is to be implemented on selected routes as part of streamlining the city’s traffic system.  The PRT system for the city is one of the two planned in the State. The second one is planned at Kottayam. The 2012-13 budget has earmarked ` 25 lakh for undertaking the preliminary studies for the two projects.
