THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An Indian Air Force (IAF) motorcycle expedition from Tambaram in Chennai to Kanyakumari exhorting youngsters to join the IAF was flagged off on its next lap from here on Tuesday. Air Commodore B N Das, Senior Officer-in-Charge, administration, HQ, Southern Air Command (SAC) flagged off the 14-member expedition to Kanyakumari.

The expedition would cover three South Indian states and approximately 2,300 kilometres from Chennai via Bangalore-Mangalore-Kannur-Kochi-Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari-Rameshwaram-Thanjavur to Chennai (via Pondicherry) under the leadership of Flight Lieutenant Sandeep Sahai Verma.

The expedition was flagged off from the Air Force Station at Tambaram on March 21 and it reached here on Monday. The aim of this expedition is to convey the message ‘Join the Indian Air Force’ and to promote adventure, sports, camaraderie and team spirit among air warriors, the IAF said in a statement.
