THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tension prevailed in SAT Hospital over a woman’s death after she gave birth to a child. Salini, a 21-year-old housewife from Kottukal, died at the hospital on Tuesday morning after she gave birth to a child through caesarian section. When Salini’s death was confirmed by 9 a m, relatives and friends expressed resentment against the hospital officials and alleged that the death occurred due to negligence on the part of the hospital staff.
Binoj, Salini’s husband, said that he had spoken to Salini after the operation and she appeared comfortable at that time. “Later she was shifted to the ICU without informing the relatives,” Binoj charged. When the situation began to develop into a law and order problem, Medical College police reached the spot and pacified the crowd which had gathered outside the hospital. Later, Binoj filed a complaint with the police, holding hospital staff responsible for the death. On the basis of the complaint, police here registered a case of unnatural death.
