THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Social hegemony is influencing literary life these days, poet V Madhusoodanan Nair said. He was inaugurating the national seminar on ‘Malayala sahityam: Parinamathinte disasoochikal’ organised by the Kerala University Institute of Distance Education’s Malayalam Department.

Malayalam has a rich history and has a significant place among the languages that have come up in modern times. Malayalam literature had grown at a time when many literatures across the world were not even born, he said.

Nowadays, what rules a writer is the thought of selling his published work, which is a trend in all areas of society.
