Corruption is the bane of emerging India and the country would cut a sorry figure among other nations if the evil is not eradicated, said Southern Railway Divisional Manager Rajesh Agrawal. He was speaking after inaugurating the Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations organised by the Income Tax Department at Aaykar Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Commissioner of Income Tax D Sudhakar Rao, who presided over the function, said that the organisation is implementing several programmes which ensure efficiency and zero corruption. ‘’’Transparency in public procurement’ is the theme of this year’s vigilance awareness programmes,’’ he said. Lakshman Singh and A M Rajan also addressed the function.
