Universities contribute novel ideas to the society, said IT and Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty. Speaking after inaugurating the research portal of KU here on Thursday, the Minister said that researches are catalysts of development. The society views universities as the source of new ideas, he added.
Vice-Chancellor A Jayakrishnan said that the University would be made paperless in five years. The new portal offers several services to researchers including preparation of registration memo, processing of applications related with the course work, hall ticket and pass certificate, the officials said.
Steps for issuing fellowship amount through banks could be done. Research guides could publish their academic profile in the website.
The portal was prepared by the university computer centre. Pro-VC J Prabhash, Syndicate members B S Jyothikumar, M Jamalkunju and P Mohanachandra Nair, joint registrar-in-charge V Suresh Babu, research director V Prasannakumar and Research Students’ Union chairman N Pramod attended the function.
