Pathetic state of GH ward: HRC registers case

The State Human Rights Commission has suo moto registered a case based on media reports highlighting the pathetic state of affairs of the ninth ward of the General Hospital here.

 Commission chairman Justice J B Koshy directed the Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department Principal Secretaries, the District Collector and the hospital superintendent to submit a detailed report on the present condition of the ward nine before December 19.

 The Commission observed that though the government schemes such as ‘Karunya’ are in place, it is pathetic that the ward is being neglected by the officials. Under clause 13(3) of the Human Rights Protection Act, the  Commission also entrusted its secretary G S Shailamani the task of submitting a detailed report on the current situation of the ward by visiting it.
