This Sunday, the Indian Navy is offering the residents of the capital an opportunity to visit a naval vessel. The Navy’s fast attack craft INS Kalpeni will dock at Vizhinjam on Sunday and will be open to the public from 9 am to 4 pm.
The visit is part of Navy Day celebrations. Navy Day falls on December 4, marking the naval attack on the Karachi port during the 1971 war.
Propelled by water jet, INS Kalpeni can touch speeds of 35 knots and is used by the Navy to monitor the coast.
The vessel is commanded by Lieutenant Commander Vikas Jha, a specialist in navigation and direction.
