The CPI state council which met here on Saturday has urged the government to stop its alleged indifference to the victims of endosulfan in Kasaragod.
In a statement here, the council said that only 101 persons have been given compensation till date.
The Human Rights Commission had recommended to give Rs 5 lakh each to 24,536 victims, who were seriously ill or mentally retarded. It had also recommended to give Rs 3 lakh each to other kind of victims. Despite giving financial aid, the government is now looking for a re-examination into the issue. The government had also informed the Human Rights Commission in May 2012 that the assistance was distributed to all the victims, which was against the truth.
