Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor has intervened to ensure an examination centre in Thiruvananthapuram for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET),for admission to MDS Courses.

AIIMS had earlier decided to have only one centre for the examination in South India, which was in Chennai.

This had put to difficulty a large number of aspirants from Kerala and they raised the demand for a centre in Kerala.

Shashi Tharoor spoke to R C Dekha, director, AIIMS,who agreed to make Thiruvananthapuram as another centre for the examination, which would be a help to 1,000-odd aspirants from Kerala.
