The Theeradesa Nethru Vedi has requested the State Government to make the Veli Breakwater Project and the development of the Veli Tourist Village a reality.

In a press release issued here the other day, the Vedi said that the consecutive governments that came to power had done nothing to realise the project announced ten years ago. It added that the land acquired for the project was now lying useless.

The same has been the fate of the Veli Breakwater Project, that has been caught up in red tape even before the construction activities. The Vedi alleged that the previous government did not get the mandatory environmental clearance, which led the project to a crisis and loss of funds.

Now that the environmental issues have been cleared, the Nethru Vedi said that the projects should be started as soon as possible.
