Filmmaker Venu Nair’s latest film, ‘One of Seven’ has been nominated to the competition section of  the 6th edition of Wildlife Vaasa Festival to be held in Finland.

The film examines the reasons for Kerala’s food insecurity and how globalisation, liberalisation, urbanisation, population growth, rising price of fuel and climate change contributed to upsetting the food security of Kerala.

However the title of the film has a global context to it. It is estimated that 1 billion people in the world today, or put differently, one in every seven human beings cannot afford the minimum essential nutrition necessary for a healthy life.

One of Seven is an 80-minute film produced by the Environment Department. Venu Nair is the recipient of a number of international, national and state awards for his various documentaries.

The Wild Vaasa Festival is conducted biennially to promote the latest Nature and Science film productions from around the world and will be held in the city of Vaasa from November 21  to 25.
