CPI control commission secretary and state council member Antony Thomas has passed away. He was 79. The end came at a private hospital here on Saturday morning.

Antony Thomas who had his initiation in politics through the students movement had served as AISF state president and secretary during 1957-62 period.

He  had also served as member of the state Secretariat and state Education Department committee.

He also had a stint at the ‘Janayugam’ as its chief editor, chief editor of Navayugam and editor of Prabhat Books.

He has also served as director of KTDC and KSFE. The body which is kept in the mortuary of KIMS hospital will be taken to MN Smarakam here at 9 am on Sunday and will be placed there till 11 am for the public to pay homage.

At 11 am, the body will be taken to his house at PTP Nagar. The funeral will be held in the afternoon at the Lourde Church near PMG junction.

CPI state secretary Pannian Ravindran in a condolence message said that Antony Thomas had devoted his whole life  for the communist movement and he was committed to the communist values.

He said he had served the party through his selfless work. CPI legislature party leader C Divakaran also condoled  the death of Antony Thomas.
