World AIDS Day Observed

Awareness rallies, lighting of lamps and various other functions were held in the capital city as part of the World AIDS Day observance. Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor officially inaugurated the observance at University Senate Hall.

Awareness programmes and canvas painting were held as part of the observance, which was conducted with the aim of bringing AIDS patents to the mainstream of society.

K Muraleedharan MLA, Mayor K Chandrika, District Panchayat president Ansajitha Russel and District Medical Officer K M Sirabudin attended the function held at Senate Hall.

An AIDS awareness rally was taken out from Kanakakkunnu Palace to University College. Actor Suresh Gopi flagged off the rally that was attended by hundreds of volunteers. NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and NGO workers were among the participants.
