With Christmas around the corner, various Christian communities in the city have already drawn up plans to welcome the season. The Marthoma Church is all set to conduct its Christmas celebrations at the Sooryaprabha convention centre here at Mannanthala on Friday, marking the beginning of this year’s Christmas season.

The gathering will begin with Christmas carols by a 100-member choir belonging to various Marthoma churches in the district. Mar Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop and Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, will deliver the Christmas message at the function. Bishop of Marthoma Church Thomas Mar Timotheos will preside over the function.

The Youth Centre Thiruvananthapuram in association with the Juhanon Marthoma Study Centre will jointly lead a liturgical music performance as part the programme, according to general convener Rev Raju Thomas.
