An online platform for easy and fair transaction of any item - from a small pencil to a big bungalow - is right here. That is exactly what three young techies have created with ‘Buy and Sell anything here’, a facebook group that helps people make an informed decision.
The facility, a virtual market, is a space for friends to share their opinions and buy and sell products among the peer group. The group aims at a transparent and unbiased form of information about the products made available.
Ali Muhammed P T, one of the administrators of the group, wanted to sell his bike and a tablet a few months ago, which made him post the matter on facebook and other social networking sites. He received a quick response, which made him start a new social online group which is meant only for selling and buying items. Bittu George, a product manager in a private firm, and Sunith Sunny Mathew, an engineer, also joined in and supported him in the administration of the group.
This closed group has 2,000 members now. No one is added forcefully to the group by the administrators. Only those with genuine interest are part of the group.
However, the administrators also take care that only genuine cases are added.
In the group, all dealings will be processed in a couple of clicks. Sellers and buyers can avail of this service in different ways either by posting their requirement alone in the facebook page or adding a contact number along with it so that persons concerned can contact each other. Additionally, it also provides sellers and buyers an advantage of getting rid of brokers and other such interference. Interestingly, there are also many who are in need of a variety of items, besides the usual cars, tablets, phones etc, including old newspapers. Some even want old coins, currency, stamps, inland and postal cover.
“We always make sure that the group doesn’t work like the normal groups in facebook. Peers are the immediate groups at whom we look at before buying anything; so, having a group wherein we have the immediate friends and their friends would serve the purpose more. Selling and buying would be more easier this way. Selling to or buying from someone we know is something that attracts people. Being enterprising individuals, we wish to take this forward to the next level soon,” said Bittu.
“There are many who would like to sell and buy things, for which the online channel is the apt choice. However, many sellers are still hesitant to sell their products online. A major challenge that they face is that most of them do not have the knowledge of the medium. As a solution to this challenge, we have launched the facility,” said Ali.
