An 18-year-old was arrested by the police on Tuesday evening for attacking a woman who resisted a rape attempt at Venjaramoodu near here.
Anwar, a resident of Kuttara in Vamanapuram, was arrested by the Venjaramoodu police who was in a hideout at Perumathura since the attempt on Monday.“Anwar had attacked the 40-yr-old woman near Vamanapuram river on Monday. He attempted to drown her in the river and hit her head with a stone following which she fell unconscious,” the police said. According to the police, Anwar retaliated after the woman complained to his parents about his approaches for sexual favours. Police said they identified an accomplice who assisted Anwar.
