The 10-year rule of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a golden era for Kerala, opined CM Oommen Chandy. The state received investment to the tune of `70,000 crore during his tenure, Chandy added.

Oommen Chandy termed as unfortunate the reports portraying the Prime Minister in poor light following a book penned by his former press secretary.

“Manmohan Singh is a person who maintains high dignity and standards. He has done a lot for Kerala. When the attempt to get classical language status for Malayalam was rejected by the committee concerned, it was he who took the initiative. Usually once the committee rejects such a proposal, it’s very difficult to reopen the matter. Also, during his tenure the state got investments worth Rs 70,000 crore,” he said.
