The Social Forestry Wing of the Forest and Wildlife Department in association with NCC group headquarters will celebrate Earth Day, the annual event, on April 22.
Elaborate awareness programmes will be organised to highlight the problems of global warming, rising temperatures, deforestation, waste management and threat to existence of many species.
The awareness programmes are aimed at making the new generation aware of the rising new dangers to environment and help to prevent them.
An awareness cycle rally of NCC cadets will start from NCC group headquarters Peroorkkada on Tuesday at 9 am.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forest B S Kori and NCC Group Commandant Colonel Nandakumar together will flag off the rally. The rally will be escorted by vehicles with Earth Day messages. The rally after going through the city will reach Pangode at 11 am. It will be followed by planting of saplings.
