Mani Criticises Isaac's Remarks

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K M Mani has said that his predecessor Thomas Isaac’s remarks on the Supreme Court verdict in other-state lottery case would only serve the lottery mafia.

“Isaac’s allegation that the State Government committed lapses in conducting the case is an attempt to save the face of the previous government,” Mani said in a statement here on Saturday.

The Minister said that the allegation that the government was unaware of the verdict was baseless. “A top official of the Lotteries Department was deputed to assist the lawyers during the trial. Later, the standing counsel communicated a summary immediately after the verdict,” he said.
