Repair of Road Begins

The works to fill the potholes in front of the Peroorkada market started on Wednesday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: At last, as a relief to city folks who were facing a threat owing to the bad condition of the road near Peroorkada Junction, the authorities have taken up steps to solve the issue following the ‘Express’ report on Wednesday.

The works to fill the potholes in front of the Peroorkada market were started by the Thiruvananthapuram Road Development Company Limited (TRDCL) officials on the day. The holes were filled with the temporary mixture. According to officials, the work would be completed this week itself if weather permits.

The potholes on the untarred and uneven road in front of the Peroorkada market were the result of the repeated maintenance works carried out by the Kerala Water Authority (KWA).

According to Anil Kumar Pandala, the project director of TRDCL, “These potholes were formed following the works done by the KWA on the pipelines laid under the road. Though we had filled the potholes at least 11 times earlier, the Water Authority dug holes again for their works.”

According to him, the potholes will be filled before coming Sunday.
