THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sanskrit Scholar Honoured

T’Puram: Sanskrit scholar R Vasudevan Potty, who is celebrating his 90th birthday, was honoured by BJP Thiruvananthapuram mandalam committee. BJP district president S Suresh inaugurated the event.

Mandalam president Sreevarahom Vijayan, mandalam secretary M Muralikumar, councillor P Rajendran Nair and Sabarindranath were present at the function. 

No Water Supply Disruption Today

T’Puram: The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) has clarified that there will be no disruption of water supply in the low-level zones on Saturday.

The other day, the Water Authority had said that there would be disruption owing to maintenance work at Aruvikkara water treatment plant. The maintenance work will only be done next week, the KWA said. 

Medical Negligence

T’Puram: The government has sanctioned Rs one lakh as compensation for a patient who had to face the effects of medical negligence by a doctor at the Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, following an order of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC).

The incident pertaining to the case took place in 2005.

The right leg of Rafeeq, a native of Manathavady, was operated on, instead of his left leg, by mistake. The then chairperson of the SHRC N Dinakar took suo motu case in the incident following media reports. It was the Commission member K E Gangadharan who settled the case as the tenure of Dinakar was over.  ENS

Canara Bank Donates Fans

T’Puram: Canara Bank donated fans to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) as part of its CSR initiatives.

The bank’s general manager K R Balachandran handed over the fans to B Prabhathu Kumar, secretary (Sub Judge), District Legal Services Authority, Thiruvananthapuram, at a function here.

Balachandran  underlined the role of the authority in bringing about mutually agreeable, cost-effective solutions on issues involving the bank and the general public.

K Kishore Kumar, deputy general manager, Canara Bank, and officials of District Legal Services Authority were present.
