80-year-old Dies in Bike Mishap

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  An 80-year-old woman lost her life after she was hit down by a motorbike near Sreekaryam on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sumathi of ‘Karthikabhavan’, near Pangappara.

According to traffic police, Sumathi was hit down by a Pulsar bike rode by an engineering student in Chavadimukku around 7.30 am on Sunday.

“Sumathi fell on the road and suffered a head injury which caused her death,” the traffic police said here on Sunday.

Later, the bike rider was taken into custody on Sunday.

Body Identified

A youth who was run over by a train near Pallipuram on Thursday was identified by the police on Sunday.

According to Mangalapuram police, Sreekuttan, 29, son of Shashidharan of Sreemangalam, Panimoola, near Pothencode was found dead on the railway track in Nambiarkulam on Thursday.

The body which was kept in the mortuary of the Medical College Hospital was released to the relatives.

Retired Police Official Found Dead

A 64-year-old retired police official was found hanging near his house in Nellimoodu on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shashidharan, 64, of Nellimoodu.

According to Kanjiramkulam police, Shashidharan was found hanging in a shed adjacent to his house on Sunday morning around 5.30 am. “As per the statements given by Shashidharan’s close relatives, he was upset due to certain health issues,” the police said.
