Minister Inaugurates Major Road Work

The Parackal-Vellanickal-Vengod Road which links the grama panchayats of Manickal, Mudackal and Pothencode is to be renovated at a cost of around Rs 5 crore

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government on Wednesday began the renovation of a major road connecting three panchayats in the Nedumangad constituency which would help to usher in development in the region.

PWD Minister V K Ebrahim Kunju inaugurated the renovation of the Parackal-Vellanickal-Vengod Road which links the grama panchayats of Manickal, Mudackal and Pothencode. The road is to be renovated at a cost of Rs 4.84 crore with the help of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

Ebrahim Kunju added that the PWD would implement many more development works in areas falling under the  Nedumangad constituency. In fact, steps were being taken to obtain NABARD assistance for the renovation of more roads in the constituency, he said. The state government is duty-bound to usher in industrial and education-related progress across the state by constructing better roads and bridges, the Minister said.

In Rural Thiruvananthapuram, the government is also gearing up to commission a water supply scheme which will benefit Pothencode, Mudackal and Andoorkonam panchayats on August 28.
