THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The chemical plant in Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML), Chavara, from where toxic gas had allegedly leaked earlier this month will be run on Saturday on a trial basis.

The decision to run the plant was taken after KMML Managing Director Ajay Krishnan’s meeting with Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty.

The decision was taken on the basis of reports from the Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and director, Factories and Boilers Dept.

Later, speaking to Express, Ajay Krishnan said that the KMML plant would be run in the presence of Factories and Boilers director and Pollution Control Board officials.

“Before resuming production, the plant has to be operated for a fixed number of hours.

We  will operate the plant in the presence of director of Factories and Boilers and officials from Pollution Control Board,” Ajay Krishnan said.
