Search for Boy Missing in Killi River Inconclusive

Nishanth, son of Babu of Therakam, was swept away by the strong currents of the river from Therakam ghat on Monday morning around 11.30  a.m.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 14-year-old boy was found missing after he went to take bath in the Killi river here on Monday morning.

According to the Fort police, Nishanth, son of Babu of Therakam, was swept away by the strong currents of the river from Therakam ghat on Monday morning around 11.30  a.m.

It was around 11.30 a.m. that he went missing, when he went there to take bath with his friend. While the incident occurred, his friend was sitting on the river bank as he didn’t know how to swim, according to the police.

Following the incident, four units of Fire and Rescue Service teams from Chenkalchoola and Chackai reached the spot and conducted search operations along with the police.

But the rescue operations which lasted till around 7.30 p.m. ended without any results.

Nishanth was a student of Killippalam Boys Higher Secondary School.
