Sanitation: SHRC Issues Directive

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Human Rights Commission chairman Justice J B Koshy issued an instruction to Education Secretary, stating that the government must ensure clean and hygienic sanitation facilities at schools in the state. He said that the government must intervene and set up lavatories in schools.

The instruction is in response to a petition filed by activist P K Raju saying children are falling ill because of unhygienic sanitation facilities. The petition states that the situation is no different in aided schools which receive hefty donations.
